VCU School of Dentistry to host Give Kids a Smile Day Feb. 2
January 26, 2018The Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry’s Department of Pediatric Dentistrywill provide free services for children in need of dental care who do not have dental insurance at the school’s annual Give Kids a Smile Day.
The event will take place Feb. 2 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Lyons Dental Building (520 N. 12th St.).
At the event, pediatric dentists will provide exams, cleanings, X-rays, fillings, extractions and needed treatment for children from birth to age 18. The Pediatric Dental Clinic is a 14-chair clinic that specializes in dental care for infants, children, adolescents who are otherwise healthy, and also those who are medically compromised and have special health care needs.
On Jan. 29 at 1 p.m., VCU Health will host a Facebook Live interview with Elizabeth Berry, D.D.S., associate professor of pediatric dentistry, and William Dahlke, D.M.D., chair of the Department of Pediatric Dentistry in the VCU School of Dentistry. During the interview, the two will discuss Give Kids a Smile Day and children’s dental health. Tune in to facebook.com/vcuhealth to join the conversation.
Give Kids a Smile Day is organized annually by the American Dental Association during National Children’s Dental Health Month in February. The program, which was designed to provide education and preventive and restorative oral health care, has served more than 5 million children nationwide since its launch in 2003.
